The Heat-Timer SMC control is designed for under slab heating systems utilized for snow and ice melting. It can be used in applications such as driveways, parking lots, staircases, walkways, station platforms, etc. It senses slab temperature, the absence or presence of precipitation, slab water supply and return as well as boiler water return temperature. Below an adjustable temperature set point it will energize the system into an idle mode. On a further drop in temperature, and if it detects precipitation, it will initialize the "melt" cycle. It will continue the melt cycle until no moisture is present. A minimum run time adjustment is included to prevent short cycling. In addition, it provides a dry contact alarm output which is energized if set point is not reached within a time period, or if any sensor is reading outside its normal range. The maximum slab supply temperature is adjustable so the unit can be used on a wide variety of slab configurations, such as pavers, concrete, asphalt, or even bare ground.
