Spring Has Sprung, Almost
As another heating season in the US draws to a close it is interesting (to us at least!) to reflect on the past winter heating season and its many challenges for building owners in the Northeast in particular. Maybe we’ll even talk a little bit about how we were able to help them..🙂
The winter of 2024-2025 in the Northeast U.S. was notably cold and snowy particularly later in the season, with storms and snowfall continuing to be influenced by a La Niña pattern. Most heating degree-days occurred in mid January through February, but cooler temperatures have persisted this year well into April. Generally we don’t see heating degree-days in the Northeast completely roll off until June, and that certainly looks like it will be true this year.
For multi-family building owners this simply means a lot of calls for heat well into the months where this expense would normally have winded down. Despite the effects of global warming, we see this year that cyclic phenomena such as La Nina can still drive extended cold spells and storms across the country.
